Newly Fallen Snow

Colin Carruthers' work has been exhibited at Purple Gallery in Bournville from the very first day of their opening in April 2005 and over the years, his work has proven popular with collectors and visitors to the gallery. Colin produced a series of paintings of local scenes for one of their Christmas shows, and of course had to paint some snow scenes following a flurry of snow that fell in Bournville in 2017.

ARTIST STATEMENT:  Colin says: "It was snowing heavily for two days, followed by a glorious day's sunshine - which transformed Bournville into a "Winter Wonderland. When there is a fresh fall of snow, I see my surroundings anew.  The views I have become familiar with are transformed and I see them - as if for the first time - giving me a fresh impetus to paint.  Changing weather, rugged coastlines, hilltop views and wildflower meadows often feature in my work. My paintings are a desire to capture something about the essence of what it feels like to be there and to share that with the viewer".
